We had a stubborn stump in the backyard from a dogwood tree. The stump was very hard and wasn't responding well to chainsaws or anything else we tried to cut it with. We decided to plant our garden around it and let the garden help break down the hard clay soil, which worked out as planned. When we were ready, we dug out the tree stump, cut all visible roots and removed it from the ground. The stump removal was easy once all roots were cut, just two light tugs with a tow strap that was attached to our truck was enough to remove this small stump. The extracted stump now has a home at our local mulching facility, and our cedar raised bed is now able to sit in its rightful spot without the stump crowding it or the plants.

This job could have been quicker/easier using a stump grinder. However, we were not concerned with quick and not interested in easy. We wanted a fun project to spend some time on as a family. This was not only a lot of fun to do, but provided some much needed exercise! We got what we wanted out of this project.
Thanks for watching.
