What the heck is a HAPLOGROUP??
In a way, haplogroups are family…
They’re a collection of people who share the same DNA.
There’s a little more to it than that, of course, as explained in the video…
There are maternal haplogroups, based on Mitochondrial DNA, which connect you to a family tree dating back to the first woman all humans today are descended from.
There are paternal haplogroups, based on Y-Chromosomes, which does the same, but for men.
Then there’s some thing really cool…
There are celebrities and historical figures in YOUR haplogroup! This means you have famous people on your family tree. They may be very distant cousins, but it’s still pretty cool, right?
