Chris Bumstead was born on February 5, 1995, in Ontario, Canada. Like many bodybuilders, he began his athletic career playing American football. At the age of 14, he joined the gym to improve his strength and gain a few pounds for an advantage on the field. But after Bumstead began to see results from his hard work, he began devoting more and more time to training in the gym, and by the age of 18, he was squatting 5 reps with a weight of 227 kg.
In 2013, he graduated from college and decided to devote all his free time to training. His sister's boyfriend agreed to help Chris prepare for his first competition. As a result, in 2014, in Sudbury, he took first in the junior category and won the overall men's category. In 2015, Chris entered the Canadian Championships, placing first in the junior category and third in the heavyweight category. The following year, he placed second at the same competition, and in 2016, he won first place in the heavyweight category at the North American Championships, earning him an IFBB pro card, just over two years after his first competition.
Chris Bumstead began his career in bodybuilding, but he was always drawn to the athletes of the "golden era," and genetically, he was a perfect fit for the era when the Classic Physique category emerged. He realized it was exactly what he needed, and as we later saw, he was absolutely right. After winning the Pittsburgh Pro in 2017 and qualifying for the Olympia, at the age of 22, he took second place in the Classic Physique category at the most prestigious bodybuilding competition on the planet. Given Chris's age and genetic potential, these are far from the last victories of his professional career, and he will soon add to his list of achievements.
