The mechanism is simple. The gameplay will be streamed from and encoding software like OBS, to this website, which will then distribute it to multiple streaming sites in real time. Pros are it’s convenient and optimized you bandwidth usage. If you use those paid apps mentioned before, you need really high performance hardware and bandwidth. Now, let me show you step-by-step tutorial.
Step 1: Add multiple channels on restream.io
First things first, visit restream.io and register an account. Then, click Add Channel. Here’s a list of channels including commonly used streaming sites like Hitbox, Youtube and Twitch. Let’s take Youtube and Twitch as an example, so select Twitch first.
In this page, you’ll need to authorize and log in to your account. When this channel is added, click add channel button on right top and select the second one, which is Youtube. And simply authorize and log in as before.
In the list of added channels, mouse over on it and you’ll see the settings and options to turn on or off. In settings you can customize a little bit and choose the server of Twitch.
Step 2: information settings
In Title to the right of Dashboard on nav bar, you can set the video title, name of the game, etc. You can use the same info for both channels or you can tailor made for each channel.
In Social Alearts, you can edit your promotional content and share your video with your followers on Twitter and Facebook.
Lastly, in Chart, you can view and manage real-time comments from your viewers. Next, we’re almost there.
Step 3: start streaming with OBS
Open OBS and select settings, put restream.io as service, and choose a server. Then, go back to restream.io, choose the consistent server and copy the stream key, paste the key to OBS as usual, and the encorder is successfully connected to restream.io.
Click start streaming on OBS and your gameplay is on air and you’re streaming on both Youtube and Twitch at the same time.
