New data from NASA’s SOFIA reveal a newborn star in the Orion Nebula is creating a powerful wind that is blowing a bubble and clearing out the material needed to form new stars. This three-dimensional (3-D) view shows the nebula – Earth’s closet star-formation nursery – and the bubble. Researchers can rotate, zoom in, and even dive through this data cube to better understand the origins of the stars we see today, and those that may form in the future.
