"The Visitor" is a song about the immigrant experience, the feeling of living in between two worlds, and not quite belonging with the crowd. This tune is also a postcard to my youth moving back and forth between two continents, often not feeling quite at home in my hometown.
I'm just a visitor to my hometown
I don't know where I, I belong now
I glimpse the shadow of the old child
long forgotten in this new life
It's so much easier now, just walk away
from these streets that never knew my name
they often say your home is where your heart is,
why, for heaven's sake, do I stay?
I hear a memory of the old truth
mistranslated by today's youth,
but I'm a phoenix, flown through ashes
rising past the pressing blackness.
It's so much easier now, just walk away
from these streets that never knew my name
they often say your home is where your heart is,
why, for heaven's sake, do I stay?
I'll follow where you go
I'll follow where you go
I'll follow where you go
where'd you go?
