Soil Microbes and Space
Have you ever thought about the possibility of growing food in space? Some would call it a concept that is… ‘out of this world’.
Growing food on another planet may seem like a distant challenge, but scientists are on the front foot having experimented with simulated moon and mars soils to see if these environments could one day be suitable for growing plants.
The results from these experiments have been variable, but what they do demonstrate is that poor soils can become productive if managed in the right way.
