The Norwegian-made military nano-drone “Black Hornet” greatly enhances situational awareness for small units such as infantry squads, enabling forward reconnaissance without exposing soldiers to danger.
This high-performance nano-drone weighs less than 33 grams and fits in the palm of a hand, providing high-resolution video both day and night. It operates almost silently and boasts a maximum flight time of 25 minutes.
Since 2018, the U.S. military has deployed thousands of these nano-drone systems, each estimated to cost around $40,000.
The system includes a dual-drone docking station for storage and protection, a handheld touchscreen device, and a controller.
