How to fix the Windows Security Taskbar icon not opening after upgrading to Windows 11
This is an issue affecting some devices after upgrading to Windows 11 from Windows 10.
The problem occurs when you right-click the Windows Security (shield) icon on the taskbar and try to open the following options:
◉ View notification options
◉ View security dashboard
The result is a pop-up saying "You'll need a new app to open this windowsdefender link" -which leads to a "No results found" message.
In this video I will demonstrate the problem and the fix.
The Powershell (make sure to use - run as Administrator) command is:
Get-AppxPackage Microsoft.SecHealthUI -AllUsers | Reset-AppxPackage
Once the command has completed, simply close the Powershell window and try right-clicking on the taskbar Windows Security icon and both options should now work.
