Nicaragua's Shanice Palacios won the 72nd Miss Universe pageant. First runner-up was Antonia Porsild of Thailand. Second runner-up was Moriah Wilson of Australia. Russia's Margarita Golubeva failed to make it into the top 20. The finals were held in El Salvador.
