Fuck you WWE

As noted on Tuesday, Conor McGregor announced his retirement from MMA. Despite rumors to the contrary, Dana White told FS1’s Colin Cowherd that the issues with McGregor are not related to money. White said, “It’s not a money issue. That’s false. That’s the problem with the Internet. Never ever was this about money. Conor makes a lot of money and he’s very happy with the money he makes.”
White said that McGregor refused to fly out to Las Vegas to help promote UFC 200. He said that they were supposed to shoot the television commercial and they had press conference scheduled for three cities. White said that McGregor’s manager asked to have everything moved to next month but that wasn’t possible because everything was already in motion and UFC was spending $10 million to promote the show.
“Obviously, Conor made a decision and made a choice to not want to fight on this card. And that’s how he gets paid. That’s on him. The show will go on.”
Wrestling fans on social media continue to talk about the possibility of McGregor joining WWE. There’s a little bit more fuel on the fire today as WWE followed McGregor on twitter this morning. I should note that if McGregor is indeed retired, there is a non-compete in place in UFC contracts so if there was any interest in WWE, he couldn’t do anything with them right away.
