The Cheapest CO2 | Do it yourself: Tutorial of CO2 system
The plant metabolic rate can be increased quickly, create the best growing conditions for fish. It is the best choice of making CO2 equipment at home from economical point of view. Easy, safe and economical solution is to add citric acid, baking soda, water into the bottle, can produce carbon dioxide.
Components of the whole CO2 system:

I use regular water bottles for the system, which I have sealed with Teflon tape. Bottle A shall contain: 200g of Citric acid and 600 ml of water. To bottle B add 200g of Baking soda 200g and 200 ml of water. I only use RO water (from a reverse osmosis filter). Both bottles should be shaken to mix the different ingredients. Ready bottles we can connected to valves and rest of system.
Needle valve regulates the pressure and amount of CO2 that enters the aquarium. Solenoid valve switches the whole system on at the specified time. Make sure the outlet valve is open. Then give the bottle with the citric acid a really hard squeeze. When the citric acid touches the baking soda powder, the reaction is immediate! You will need to give the citric acid bottle a handful more squeezes before the reaction can be self-sustained.
If everything went well, you can see the diffuser fizzling immediately.

Total costs: 30€
Such a system is sufficient for stable operation for two to four weeks. Then we have to buy components (citric acid, baking soda) for 1 € and start from the beginning.
