Of course, there's no right or wrong anser or RIGHT way when it comes to dialing in your amp as it depends largely on your playing style and the context in which you use your guitar. For instance, if you are primarily a rhythm player, your tones should be set darker and leaner to avoid clashing with other instruments in a band setting as this is best so your sound complements the overall mix rather than dominating it.
On the other hand, if you are a lead player, you’ll want to adjust your amp settings to really bring out the mids and volume, adding a bit of high-end to help your solos cut through the mix so your bass player doesn't get all the glory! This will give your solos the clarity and presence they need to stand out and means your sound engineer doesn't have to fight the volume!
