Instances in Figma, Figma Tutorial For Beginners.
In this video I will show you what is simplify instances in figma, figma tutorial for beginners.
Simplify Instances in Figma is a feature designed to streamline your design workflow by reducing complexity in component instances. When you use components in Figma, they often carry a lot of extra data - like variant options, hidden layers, and nested properties - even if you're not using them.
Simplify Instances helps by cleaning up these instances, removing unused properties, and converting them into a simplified frame that maintains the same visual appearance. This is especially useful when you're finalizing a design and no longer need the flexibility of component variants or overrides.

• In short, it’s a quick way to:
• Detach the component from its source,
• Clean up any unused settings,
• And preserve the look of your design exactly as it appears.

It's perfect for keeping your files lightweight, organized, and easier to manage — especially in handoff or production stages. In Figma, "Simplify Instances" is a feature that allows you to convert an instance of a component into a simplified frame, removing its connection to the original main component, but keeping its current appearance.

What It Does:
• Detaches the instance from the component.
• Removes unused properties like variants or overrides that are no longer affecting the design.
• Converts it into a regular group/frame for easier editing.
• Preserves the visual design of the instance exactly as it is.

Difference from "Detach Instance":
• Feature Simplify Instances Detach Instance
• Keeps visual layout? ✅ Yes ✅ Yes
• Keeps structure? ✅ Yes (cleans unused parts) ✅ Yes
• Removes all links? ✅ Yes ✅ Yes
• Cleans up variants? ✅ Yes ❌ No – leaves all variant data

When to Use:
• You no longer need the instance to be connected to the main component.
• You want to clean up and reduce complexity in your layers panel.
• You want to reduce file size or increase performance.
• You’re preparing designs for handoff and want only final visuals.

Example:
• Say you’re using a button component with 10 variants (e.g., color, size, state), but your design only uses 1. If you use Simplify Instances, Figma:
• Detaches the button.
• Keeps only the visible design.
• Removes the 9 unused variant options from the instance.
