Patient Chronicles Season 2 - Episode 3 | Louise Perry-Etter
Louise Perry-Etter is what she likes to call a “Cancer Thriver”, and not a cancer survivor. Louise was diagnosed with colon cancer at the age of 41. She is a mom of 2 and has been living her life in Orange County, California. She opened up her own beauty shop and had been building her business to be as successful as possible. She was diagnosed and it soon spread to her liver.
“There’s over 300 cases per day diagnosed in the United States. There’s over 130-140 cases that die, unfortunately, every single day in the United States. That’s a lot of people,” explained Dr. Michael B. Wallace of Mayo Clinic.
Louise was going through a lot during this time and pushed her back from receiving an early diagnosis. Once she was diagnosed, she made the decision to live with her parents and prepare to fight against cancer. Telling her sons was one of the hardest things she’s ever done. Her sons were a huge motivation for her to survive and kept her spirits up.
“I went and I found out and I was almost like starstruck, like I didn't know how to think about it at first. It just happened so quick to where I didn't have enough time to take it in,” explained Mike Perry, son of Louise.
Colon cancer is one of the most common types of cancers. There is chemotherapy to help fight cancer but it was when Louise was introduced to cannabis by Troy and Tasha Valen that she started to feel better. Troy and Tasha introduced her to a 1 to 1 ratio cannabis capsule. Louise and her family were ready to try anything to help.
“The cannabis is what’s helping me get through it,” voiced Louise.
Louise was still a part of western medicine and did all of the chemotherapy prescribed by her doctors. She then supplemented this with her cannabis intake. Louise kept everything above board with her doctors and let them know what she was doing every step of the way.
Louise Perry-Etter lives her life to the fullest and continues with her daily regimen of cannabis. For Louise, it is not about the destination of life, but the journey of it. Her life is filled with love, her sons, family, and friends.
