Cracks in Concrete - Concrete Slab Problems
It is very common for concrete slabs to experience settling and develop foundation cracks that can create heaving in the slab and bring a floor significantly out of level. I am often asked by clients what if anything needs to be done to prepare for flooring. In a case like this, the floor needs to be ground down at the high spots and built up at the low spots with self leveling agent. We also use an antifracture membrane over the crack to help stabilize it and reduce the effect of further settling on our new flooring. These steps can have fairly significant costs depending on the severity, but they will prevent having the floor fail due to improper preparation and in the long run will save you money!
