The Tatar-Mongol invasion never happened. Medieval Rus' of the 14th-16th centuries and the "Mongol" = Great Empire are one and the same. The concepts of "Tatars" and "Mongols" did not appear until the 19th century. During the supposed invasion, the way of life did not change at all, local authorities remained the same, the Russian Orthodox Church flourished, and the tithe tax was not burdensome.
The Battle of Kulikovo was the result of a civil war.
Modern genetic research confirms that the Tatar-Mongol yoke left its mark only on traditional history, not on genes.
