Relative to other whales and dolphins - we are seeing regular strandings of Kogia species in South Africa in the recent year (19 or so in 12 months) . These are off shore , deep diving species and rarely seen at sea. Attending the stranding can provide important information on the cause of death and distribution of the two species . Here Tess, Simon and the Shark Spotters Team attended a stranded Kogia on Muizenberg Beach, Cape Town
