A new NOTAM has been issued by the FAA for an area over Havre, Montana with another shoot down of an unknown object most likely imminent.
On Saturday, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced that he had given the order for a U.S. fighter jet to shoot down an "unidentified object" in Canadian airspace. In a tweet, Trudeau confirmed that the object was taken down over the Yukon by the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD).
Both Canadian and U.S. aircraft were deployed and the object was successfully shot down by a U.S. F-22. The White House confirmed that Trudeau and U.S. President Joe Biden authorized the action and the Pentagon stated that the object was initially detected over Alaska the previous evening. Trudeau reported that he had spoken with Biden and that Canadian forces would be leading the recovery operation.
This marks the third time in a week that U.S. aircraft have shot down an object in North American airspace, following incidents on Friday and February 4th involving a suspected Chinese surveillance balloon.
