In this video I demonstrate how to set up and configure SQL server integration services scale out. We create a scale out master and then configure the scale out workers on other nodes. Thereby distributing the execution of the SSIS package on additional hardware. This feature allows us to take advantage of idle system resources for package execution. This is especially useful for ETL workloads which run on weekends where databases are idle over the weekend and therefore the CPU and memory resources available to them can be harnessed. The key aspect of implementing this is to ensure that packages run independent of each other. We also have the ability of configuring specific packages to run on specific nodes. Allowing us the ability to ensure network boundaries etc are not crossed.
