Something to learn where I come from and where I got my love of animals from.
I miss the closeness of my family and the old days. Things seemed simple then. My parents weren't rich but they always provided. They worked hard to make sure we had a roof over our heads and food in our stomach. We never went to bed hungry. We had love which is the most important thing as a parent can give your children. My family got together often when I was growing up. I was closer to my Mom's side since they lived in the same city.
My Dad was from Ga and my Mom was from South Carolina. I grew up in Hampton Roads, Virginia
Growing up I watched my Mom care for animals. She fed and took care of injured or sick wildlife. She helped any stray cats that seemed sick in the neighborhood and had a Squirrel that sat in her lap and took peanuts from her hand. She had a baby sparrow as a pet that she found out in the front yard barely any feathers that the cat was playing with so she brought it inside and cleaned it looking for wounds and got an eye dropper and cleaned it out good then went to the store and got baby cereal in a box and added some water or milk to it and she and I took turns feeding it every 2 hours. The bird lived to be 7 years old and rode our shoulder and would get on our finger. Her name was Teeny bit. When a cat was sick or went missing my Dad was the first one out the door looking for it and helped care for it and Daddy wasn't a cat person he said.
The picture at the end @2:33 is my Mom and me on my wedding day. My Mom sewed my dress and veil and some was by hand.
