This video serves as a demonstration of a Unity Plugin which I released on the unity asset store.

Its a shader effect that allows a grid of cubes or hexagons (both can be selected to have grooves between them), to move and change color in a variety of ways based on visual input from a camera, image or video.

The pins can be modified in the following ways: color, size, growth, total scale, relative scale, amount of pins, movement smoothness through motion blurring the data source, unlit/surface materials, and more.

IMPORTANT to note is that the mesh generated for this effect will have to be done on the CPU side and can be an expensive operation, however after initialization the effect itself is verry lightweight and done on the GPU. Becasue the meshes are being deformed on the GPU, you will not be able to use physics on these pins, a mesh collider''s shape will not move/stretch with the shape of the pin.
