There are three types of research titles:
1. Indicative title:
They state the subject of the proposal rather than expected outcomes.
Example
The role of agricultural credit in alleviating poverty in a low-potential area of Ethiopia.
Factors affecting the food security of households (in the case of Sodo town, Wolaita Zone, Southern Ethiopia)
Analysis of the poverty of rural households (a case of Sodo Sodo town, Woliata Zone)
Determinants of urban agriculture enterprises’ investment performance in Sodo town, Woliata zone
2. Hanging titles: have two parts: a general first part followed by a more specific second part.
Example
Alleviation of poverty in the low-potential area of Ethiopia: the impact of agricultural credit.
Education in Ethiopia: challenges and opportunities
Business in Ethiopia: past and present analysis
Politics in Ethiopia: a case study
3. Question-type titles are used less commonly than indicative and hanging titles.
However, they are acceptable where it is possible to use few words – say less than 15.
Example:
‘Does agricultural credit alleviate poverty in low-potential areas of Ethiopia?’
What is the role of education in Ethiopia?
What are the challenges facing the business sector in Ethiopia?
What are the prospects for political stability in Ethiopia?
How can Ethiopia improve its economic development?
What are the key issues facing Ethiopia's healthcare system?
