The Middle Ages is the historical period between the 5th and 15th centuries. We have attempted to summarize 10 centuries in 10 minutes.

Its beginning is usually placed in 476 with the fall of the Western Roman Empire and its end in 1492 with the discovery of America. However, it is also placed in 1453 with the fall of Constantinople, a date unique in that it coincides with the invention of the printing press and the publication of the Gutenberg Bible. It also coincides with the end of the Hundred Years' War, a war that actually lasted 116 years between the kingdoms of France and England.
This war had feudal roots, as its purpose was to determine who would control the vast holdings accumulated by the English kings since 1154 in French territories, due to the accession to the English throne of Henry II Plantagenet. It had international implications and ultimately, after numerous twists and turns, resulted in the English withdrawal from French territory.
