To make a beautiful laser-beam effect with a sharp change of colors in Microsoft 365 PowerPoint you will need a picture and text box with letters for the beam to go over. Select the picture and the text boxes, copy them, and in the Home Tab/Clipboard/Paste/Paste Special paste them as a picture (PNG). This will convert the text boxes also to an image, so that picture formatting can be applied. Paste the picture a second time on top of the first one and decrease its saturation to 0%.
The beam itself is a white line with a glow effect. Place the beam to the left of the picture. Duplicate the slide and in the second slide crop the grey image to the right. Place the beam in the second slide on the cropped grey image. Apply the Morph transition to the second slide. Compensate for the cropping glitch by moving all images (grey and colored) slightly to the right and up in the Format Picture pane/Size & Properties/Position. And present.
