Welcome to another instructional video where Alex and I delve into forehand specific drills. We begin with a light warm up in the boxes, followed by point play within that confined space. This helps develop control and strategic thinking in constructing points, enhancing rally patience.
Moving on, our first forehand drill covers various stances: neutral, open, and semi-open. Emphasising taking the ball early, we aim to maximise power generation and time management against opponents.
In the next drill, we work on driving opponents back with deep forehands to create opportunities for drop shots. As the drop shot gains prominence, precision becomes paramount, including shortening the ball, adding backspin, and employing disguise.
In the third drill, we explore court zones, crucial for determining shot aggressiveness based on court position. This aids Alex in gauging his forehand commitment according to his position.
Figure 8 drills follow, focusing on weight transfer for heavier shots. If you struggle with generating power, this drill is for you. Remember to circle behind the cones first, to get that weight shifting through the ball.
Finally, we conclude with more point play. Stay tuned for Part 2!
