Iowa Traction - Electric Freight Power
Based in Mason City and Clear Lake, Iowa is the Iowa Traction Railway. It is the last operating American interurban to use electric locomotives as regular power on freight. With four different electric locomotives all nearing 100 years of age, the engines still prove useful as they are used to switch cars from the Union Pacific interchange.
The railroad also has interurban car 727 still used for specials.
