Fantasy Stories. Atlantis. The Mystery of a Lost Civilization
In January 1914, the popular newspaper Novoye Vremya published materials about a Moscow merchant's expedition to the Mediterranean. The expedition's results shocked its participants. An ancient sarcophagus was brought aboard the ship. Upon opening it, a body in deep suspended animation was discovered, along with several objects and a manuscript, part of which was later deciphered: "I, Gormes, a priest and descendant of priests, send greetings to the conscious person who will one day read these lines. I voluntarily buried myself so that I might be resurrected in happier times. There are many of us buried in this way, and we will all come back to life and tell the great drama of Atlantis..." Judging by the body found in the sarcophagus, it could be assumed that these were the remains of some kind of experiment. The sarcophagus itself was a chronocapsule—an artificially enclosed space within which time seemed to stand still... How and for what purpose could it have been created?
