Citrix VDA Explained: How Virtual Delivery Agents Connect Users to Apps and Desktops
In this video, I explain what the Citrix Virtual Delivery Agent (VDA) is and why it is a critical component in any Citrix Virtual Apps and Virtual Desktops (XenApp / XenDesktop) environment.
The VDA is installed on each physical or virtual machine in your Site that you want to make available to users. These machines are the ones that actually deliver applications or full desktops.
The VDA allows the machine to:
Register with the Delivery Controller so that its resources (apps and desktops) can be presented to users
Establish and manage the HDX/ICA connection between the user device and the machine
Check that a valid Citrix license is available for the user or session
Apply all Citrix policies configured for the session (performance, security, redirection, etc.)
