Visualization of 8 Spectral Estimation Algorithms in 2 minutes. Estimates spectrum of an audio sample that includes tonal components and transients. The spectrum estimated with different frame sizes (when available) in order to see time-frequency resolution, spectral leakage and how Heisenberg's uncertainty principle applies for each algorithm.

The algorithms are: fast Fourier transform with Hann window (FFT), autocorrelation method of autoregressive modeling (AR LPC), Burg’s method of autoregressive modeling (AR Burg), modified covariance method of autoregressive modeling (AR MCOV), Prony’s method (PRONY), Prony expansion using derivatives (PRONY INSTANTANEOUS), fast Fourier transform with frequency as phase derivative (FFT INSTANTANEOUS), sparse representation of the signal using Fourier transform basis functions of different size (FFT SPARSE).
