This event will include discussion of the ideas and proposals in Common Security v. Nuclear Weapons: How to replace the current reliance on nuclear deterrence with sustainable security for all. This statement, endorsed by 170 organizations, was presented to the 2024 NPT Prep Com at its plenary session on July 23. The session will focus on key approaches and mechanisms for the peaceful resolution of international conflicts and prevention of aggression/war, including the International Court of Justice, International Criminal Court and regional bodies.
