Mobility Scooter Hacked! Controlled with touchscreen tablet PC!
An update to my previous video (Dynamic Controls Shark Mobility Scooter Controller Hacked!). This video shows the mobility scooter interfaced with a touchscreen tablet PC, running a modified Java application (Touch joystick UI developed in Java with JavaFX by Gerrit Grunwald). I added COM port communication to the application with the RXTX Serial Java library.
In the future this will be a self navigating robot, likely using GPS with some form of RTK support, ultrasonic sensors, IR sensors and/or cameras to be able to navigate precisely from point A to B within an environment. Right now this is just a rough proof of concept that I can utilize an existing mobility scooter controller with it's "proprietary" communication bus. Everyone else recommends replacing the original completely, but I prefer the least wasteful approach and rather enjoy the challenge anyways.
