My Natural Hair Journey Part 2!!!!

What is not clear from the top of this video is that my transition began with my pregnancy. Since I was about 20, I had this vision or goal of me wearing my hair in dreads when I had children. But when I found out I was pregnant in 2010, I was not ready to lock my hair up, but I was tired of relaxers about 6 months into the pregnancy. So... that's how my transition process began. Yes, the pregnancy helped my hair grow at a faster rate than normal due to prenatals and just the changes your body goes through while pregnant.
I hope my journey thus far is helpful to someone else thinking about or going through a transition right now. To transition while retaining length - AVOID HEAT; PROTECTIVE STYLING; TRIM REGULARLY.

These stylists were INSTRUMENTAL in my transition process. Kemar is a long time friend / brother and he had been doing my sew-ins for years until he moved to ATL in like 2007 maybe? I was referred to Tasha at Flawless by a co-worker/friend whose weaves ALWAYS looked so good. Tasha maintained my sew-ins and really helped my hair in its relaxed state between 2008 - 2011. Kemar moved back to Hampton, VA in 2011 and I went back to him. Lauren, the natural hair stylist, works at the same shop where I get my eyebrows waxed, S/O to Sasheen. All my beauticians work in HAMPTON, VIRGINA!!!!
