FREE! Caelum Audio King Key | Great App for Typewriter & Computer Keyboard Sounds (AUv3 AAX VST3 AU)
This is a walkthrough of Caelum Audio’s new free app / plugin for desktop, iPad and iPhone, King Key. This is a continuation of Caelum’s annual tradition of releasing a free plugin on International Joke Day, following on from previous releases, Dustbin and Subscription Synth. King Key has some interesting sampled typewriter sounds, computer keyboard sounds and experimental-sounding drum kits. But the interesting—and not very intuitive, hence the usefulness of a walkthrough—part, is the modulation system in the FX section, allowing you to modulate filters, drive, bit depth, sample rate and reverb using various sources: envelopes, LFOs, aftertouch, mod wheel, key tracking and velocity.
