The ‘Baby Boomer’ generation saw the advent from prop planes to supersonic jets and beyond. It was an exciting time full of promise with the sky wide open to all new technologies.
When the Russian’s launched Sputnix in1957, the world was in awe of the achievement until the thought that we could be bombed someday…that thought alone shook United States to the core and the government woke up. That’s when we entered the space race also known as ‘Go Fever’. Our National pride was awakened and John F. Kennedy led the way into space.
The primary purpose of the newly formed NASA was to learn and demonstrate incremental achievements with each step starting with the Mercury program through Gemini to Apollo and until we walked on the moon. That was considered ‘Go Fever’ to the public.…But that was not the only thing that was happening in the space race.
This movie was made intentionally for my nieces and nephews, but I decided to broaden the audience to space historians and the public, as I’m sure not many have never heard of these secret Air Force programs. Watch and hear from Roger Anderson, who was lead engineer and on the ground floor working on these programs, while the public watched the Gemini & Apollo programs.
The Dyna-Soar, the Manned Orbital Laboratory and including the Manned Telescope were all being conceive and engineered. These programs provided the ground floor knowledge for the Space Shuttle, the International Space Station and the Hubble Telescope. Also, hear the personal stories about Neil Armstrong getting advice from Charles Lindbergh and the famed Wernher Von Braun and much more.
