"The Wizard" is a television show that was aired on CBS during the 1986-1987 prime time television period that featured David Rappaport (1951-1990) who's other credits include Willow, Time Bandits and The Bride. Douglas Barr who was Lee Majors sidekick in their show "The Fall Guy" also starred with David in their adventures in their character names: Simon McKay and Alex Jagger respectively.
Simon is a genius level "toy maker" and inventor who sometimes would make "toys" or "gadgetry" for commercial and government interests and Alex is his government sponsored bodyguard and friend. Between the two of them they work through the issues that impact them and others they meet along their journey together. I consider this series influential in the realm of their perceptions for dealing with adversity, problem solving as well as the solutions they introduce for the situation. While the story vehicles and action may be considered archaine by current society norms, the message it puts forward is still very relevant in our world today so it is presented as it was for people to be both entertained and inspired.
