Rectangular Hexagonal Grid generator with Geometry Nodes in Blender 3.1+
This is an introductory video for a Rectangular Hexagonal Grid generator NodeGroup setup created with Geometry Nodes for Blender 3.1+
Salient features of the Node Group setup are:
outputs Curve Grid as default. Unmute (shortcut M) 'Fill Curve' to convert into Mesh Instances.
set Hexagon (Curve Circle) radius (HexagonRadius)
add/remove Rows(XRepeat) & Columns(YRepeat)
two modes for adding Gap between Hexagons(GapValue & GapScale). GapScale works for mesh only i.e. after unmute (shortcut M) 'Fill Curve'.
Tab into HexBaseGrid nodegroup to switch on/off Grid Center to Corner of Grid/Center of Grid.
Unmute 'Realize Instances', 'Merge by Distance' to convert & optimise Mesh with Instances to single Mesh. Unmute 'SplitEdges' if required.
'Set Material' to individual instance or final Mesh.
instance Mesh (Hexagonal) Cylinder instead of Curve (Hexagon) Circle.
