2024 UK General Election: The Economy and Living Standards
With the long-awaited General Election confirmed for 4 July 2024, and the economy as one of the core themes of the campaign, we hosted an online event to share an impartial examination of some of the main questions. What are the prospects regarding economic growth? How have living standards evolved for households since 2019? What are the key challenges facing the incoming government, and how could they could they boost growth and productivity while ensuring stable public finances?
Drawing on recent analysis that was conducted with the support of the Nuffield Foundation, NIESR researchers shared their insights, discussed the policy implications of their findings and answered questions.
