There Ali dueled with a dirty boxer.
Wepner used dirty tricks by exploiting his size through a series of blows to the back of the head that he repeated throughout most of the fight.
Ali was annoyed with referee Tony Perez who seemed to let the violations continue.
Over the remaining five rounds, Ali continued to punish Wepner by swelling his eye and giving him 23 stitches.
In the fifteenth round, Ali launched a series of combinations that left Wepner reeling before finally falling with one final blow.
