Informal GIS-Crash-Course Workshop Outline

1. The ArcGIS Pro Interface
• Starting a New Project, Where are Data stored by default?
• Layout of main ArcGIS Pro window (table of contents, tool ribbon, panes [including how to move/dock/interact with them)
• Adding a map, adding data to a map (including ArcGIS Online streaming data)
• Making a layout, how to add a legend, scale bar, north arrow
• Exporting a map
2. Creating Data in ArcGIS Pro
• Georectify an image (example from South of Pará)
• Create feature classes
• Saving edits, adding attributes
• Editing Data (a few examples, attribute edits using selections, changing polygon geometry)
3. An Overview of Tools in ArcGIS Pro
• Tools on the Ribbon (Ready to Use tools, Patterns, Overlays, Raster Functions, Imagery Toolbar)
• Tools in Geoprocessing Toolbox (explore using search)
• Model Builder, Batch Processing, mention of Python
4. Finding Data Online, Training Opportunities
• Data about Indiana
• Data about US locations: Remotely Sensed Data, Census data, National Map
• International Data (brief discussion)
• http://training.esri.com, YouTube, SkillSoft, ESRI MOOCs
