Just because we can exist without carbohydrates doesn't mean we shouldn't eat them. We can also exist without toilets and beds.
If we look at the scientific literature, even diabetics are advised not to completely eliminate carbohydrates, because not everyone can adhere to such a strict diet due to differences in food preferences, lifestyle, etc. The minimum usually recommended is 100-150 grams of carbohydrates per day. "Carbohydrates are an addiction, dopamine, just habit and culture. Why do we eat so many of them? ..."
If you enjoy eating meat, that's just dopamine.
Yes, we don't need a lot of carbohydrates. But why do we consume more than 100 grams of fat per day? The body doesn't need that much fat.
Habit and culture, of course, matter. For example, the Japanese eat a lot of rice and carbohydrates, yet they are one of the healthiest nations on the planet.
"Carbohydrate producers make money off us."
And don't meat producers make money off us?
"All the excess goes to fat, causing inflammation, disease, and aging."
That's right, including excess fat from food. When there's a calorie surplus, fat from food is actively stored as fat. Then, the excess fat in our bodies produces inflammatory substances. This is the source of type 2 diabetes and many other diseases. (PMID: 37425065)
"We're made up of protein and fat, so why eat carbohydrates?"
A cow isn't made up of the grass it eats either. The body contains many tissues that contain carbohydrates. Glycogen, for example, is essentially the body's carbohydrate reserves. The structural components of our tissues also consist, among other things, of carbohydrates. (https://doi.org/10.1017/9781108644396...)
"It's just an addiction."
Throughout the video, the man makes it clear he enjoys his meat-based diet, slurping relish on camera. I think he's addicted, right?
So what's the reality of addiction?
It's very simple: we love delicious food, even if it doesn't contain carbohydrates or sweetness. For example, cheese or a juicy steak.
There are no addictions. There's no sugar or carbohydrate addiction; we simply love delicious food. Some people prefer fatty foods, others prefer sweets and carbohydrates, that's all (PMID: 30951762).
