The sai (Japanese: 釵; Chinese: 鐵尺) is a traditional Okinawan stabbing weapon used for stabbing and striking1. It is primarily used in ninjutsu and kobudo, as well as in southern Chinese martial arts1. The basic form of the weapon is that of a sharp metal prong with two sharp and curved side prongs (yoku) projecting from the handle (tsuka)1.
The optimal length of the sai usually depends on the length of the user’s forearm2. Most often, its length varies from 37 to 50 cm, as well as its weight which ranges from 1.5 to around 2 kg
