How to make an EASY colorful score meter or progress chart in Microsoft Excel
Make an easy score meter or progress chart with 5 colors quickly in Microsoft Excel following these steps. You will need a table with two columns-one for the actual score (or progress percentage) and the other one with the maximal score (or 100%) for the background. Add a chart and change the chart type to clustered bar. Set series overlap to 100% and the gap width to 0. Fix the bounds of the horizontal axis to 0 and 100. Add gradient fill to the maximal score series. 5 gradient stops are necessary for the colors and additional 4 are needed to make clear edges. The additional 4 gradient stops need to be placed so that the next color nearly overlaps the previous one. Then add a solid border to the maximal score series. The score series needs a solid border of same width in order to blend in with the border of the maximal score series and no fill. As a last step you can also add data labels to the score series. To place the data label above the series, like in the video, just select it, drag it upwards, and in the Format Data Labels pane click "Clone Current Label" so that other labels also get placed on top of the series.
