In 1960, the Defense Communications Agency was established to manage the Defense Communications System. By 1964, the DCA was tasked with establishing and maintaining communications in Southeast Asia, leading to the creation of operations that, by 1969, formed the basis of a regional network. This network supported the Vietnam War efforts, showcasing the importance of secure, reliable communications.

About DISA

As a combat support agency, DISA conducts operations for the U.S. military to enable lethality across all warfighting domains - on land, at sea, in the air, space, and cyberspace - in defense of the United States of America.
