We spent a day with our partners on the Redlands Coast in south-east Queensland as part of our National Koala Monitoring Program.
CSIRO scientists are working with local and state governments, agency, university partners, rangers, local communities and indigenous Australians to deploy the best available technical methods to monitor for koalas. These include drones, systematic visual surveys, data integration from previous and historic sources, scat analysis, detection dogs and citizen science apps to provide a data-driven understanding of the population and distribution of koalas Australia-wide.
