Ari Shiller - String Quartet No. 1 "An Earnest Reflection"
In light of recent events with COVID-19 wreaking havoc throughout the world, I found it important for me to have an earnest reflection on these times and to fathom just how much our lives have been affected; thus, this piece for string quartet was born.
Due to the unprecedented nature of the Corona Virus, I also found it appropriate to do something out of the ordinary by composing a string quartet with only a short, single movement.
Though the sound of the music is hopeful, there is still clearly much dread throughout the world at the current moment; however, I truly believe that we must try to look forward to the future in a more positive light, and work together to manage the situation.
