Last September, Hill and I decided to offroad to the back side of Mt. Borah to camp out before hiking to Borah's Peak the next day. The Upper Pahsimeroi River Valley is one of the most beautiful places on earth. I wish my footage could show that but it does not do the valley justice. Its about a 58 mile drive from Mackay that goes through the Lost River Range to the east side of Mt. Borah and to the north of Mt. Leatherman. A 4x4 vehicle is necessary especially for the last few miles so if you plan on hiking Leatherman, don't drive your car. While on the trail, we saw some pronghorn and at the cabin, I found a western terrestrial garter snake. I was unable to find any info on the old mountain cabin but, Hill told me about a note in the window saying to please stay out unless you need to get out of the weather. We respected the owners property and only filmed the interior of the cabin to document the history. We did not open any drawers or take anything and were out right after filming. After this, we camped out at the Leatherman trailhead and hit the road in the morning. This part explains why we were on Borah so late. Since offroading and filming takes a while, we got to Borah around 3 pm and hit the trail. For more info on that, check out the Mt. Borah video!
