I demonstrate the consequences of the impact of an electromagnetic pulse EMP on the Samsung galaxy s1 plus smartphone.
Despite its small size and good protection of electronic circuits from the radiation of its own GSM radio transmitter, the smartphone turned out to be vulnerable to the effects of EMP. The built-in overvoltage protection saved the smartphone's microprocessor from damage, but the GSM radio module received irreversible damage, presumably from overvoltage on the antenna and overloading the amplifier stage. Therefore, the easiest way to protect a smartphone from the effects of EMR is to turn it off in time.
