The Government of India has shown its full support for e-gaming by announcing the World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit (WAVES), which is set to take place in 2025 from February 5th to 9th. A major highlight of this event will be a BGMI LAN event. It’s clear that the government is keen on giving a new boost to the gaming industry.
Three major game titles will be featured in this event: eFootball, WCC (World Cricket Championship), and BGMI (Battlegrounds Mobile India). Each game will have online qualifiers, with competitions held across four batches.
For BGMI, 16 teams will qualify—three teams from each batch, along with four invited international teams. This means we’re in for a massive showdown on a global level!
As for eFootball, 64 players will qualify, with 15 players from each batch and 4 international players also competing. The finals will take place between February 5th and 9th, 2025, presenting a huge opportunity for gamers across India to showcase their skills.
The government’s support clearly indicates that it views the gaming industry not just as a pastime, but as a serious profession with potential for both employment and global recognition. So, gamers, get ready—because the government is backing you all the way!
