A workshop introduction presentation on BIM and its connection to passive design and sustainability.
BIM stands for Building Information Modelling
BIM is an intelligent model-based process for planning designing buildings and managing buildings and infrastructure. BIM connects AEC professionals in more efficient designing building and operating and infrastructure through BIM.
BIM can be represented as files with synchronized information extracted, exchanged or networked to support decision-making regarding a building or other built asset
It is more than just 2d or 3d modelling, it is the process of designing a building collaboratively using one coherent system of computer models rather than as separate sets of drawings. If a model element is changed then BIM coordinates the changes in all views that display that element. Architects contractors and structural engineers can work more collaboratively accessing and updating the design the information is captured in the model and remains there consistent and coordinated.
